Who we are
Krista Sturday is a podiatrist specialising in the biomechanics of mountain sports. Her work focuses on the interface between the body, terrain and equipment — particularly ski boots, biking shoes and trail running footwear.
After decades working with athletes and outdoor enthusiasts, as a podiatrist and boot fitter, she developed a niche in helping people move efficiently in the unique environments created by mountain sports. Ski boots, cycling shoes and trail shoes all place the foot in highly specialised conditions, and small alignment issues can quickly turn into pain, fatigue or loss of control.
Krista’s particular area of expertise is ski boot alignment and ski orthotics. She has spent years refining ways to support and stabilise the foot inside the rigid environment of a ski boot, improving pressure distribution, comfort and edge control. For most skiers the solution is straightforward — but occasionally someone walks in who has never been comfortable in ski boots. Those are the puzzles she enjoys the most.
Krista also educates other podiatrists on the unique biomechanical demands of skiing and the role podiatry plays in improving comfort and performance in ski boots.
Outside the clinic, Krista is usually somewhere in the mountains herself — skiing, riding or exploring trails — which means the conversations in the clinic tend to sound less like a medical consultation and more like a discussion about the best way to get back out there.
Named after one of Australia’s iconic backcountry ski peaks, Sentinel represents preparations, protection and respect for the mountains - values that guide how we care for athletes.
Sentinel Mountain Sports Podiatry was built around a simple idea: mountain athletes deserve foot and lower limb care that actually understands their sport.
